Abstract:

Kazi hii inahusu uchanganuzi wa Kauli katika sentensi elekezi ya Kiswahili sanifu kwa kutumia nadharia ya Ubanifu. Kazi yenyewe ilikuwa na malengo ya kueleza dhana ya uambishaji na kuonyesha viambishi vya kauli katika kitenzi cha Kiswahili sanifu. Aidha, kazi hii imelenga kuonyesha uhusiano uliopo kati ya yambwa na viambishi vy'a kauli katika sentensi elekezi ya Kiswahili sanifu. Kazi hii imefaulu katika kuonyesha kuwa dhana za uambishaji na unyambuaji ni taratibu mbili tofauti za kisarufi, na kwamba viambishi vya kauli ni tokeo la uambishaji wala sio la unyambuaji. Utaf'liti huu umebainisha kwamba viambishi vya kauli sio tu viambishi tamati, bali pia huongozwa na kanuni mbalimbali ikiwemo kanuni ya wiano wa irabu. Utafiti huu umeonyesha pia kwamba, Usogezi kama mojawapo ya mihimili mikuu ya nadahria ya Ubanifu, huongozwa na kanuni mbalimbali za iktisadi kwa lengo la kufanikisha ukuaguzi wa sifamuhimu. Kazi yenyewe imepangwa katika sura tano; kila sura ikishughulikia vipengele mahususi. Sura ya kwanza imetoa utangulizi wa jumla kuhusu dhana za kauli na sentensi elekezi. Aidha sura hii imefafanua tatizo la utafiti, madhumuni ya utafiti, nadharia tete zilizoongoza utafiti pamoja na kueleza sababu za kuchagua mada ya utafiti. Sura hii pia imebainisha upeo na mipaka ya utafiti kabla ya kufafanua msingi wa nadharia iliyotumiwa ya Ubanifu na kudurusu yaliyoandikwa kuhusu kauli na nadharia ya Ubanifu. Hatimaye, sura hii imeeleza mbinu za utafiti na umuhimu wa utafiti huu. Sura ya pili imeshughulikia dhana za uambishaji na unyambuaji na kutoa vigezo vitano vya kuzitofautisha. Aidha, sura hii imeangazia viambishi awali na tamati vya vitenzi vya Kiswahili sanifu kwa kina. Katika sura ya tatu, vitenzi vya Kiswahili vimefafanuliwa kwa kuonyesha aina zake kwa misingi mitatu. Sura hii imehitimishwa kwa kuangazia kauli mbalimbali za vitenzi vya Kiswahili katika muktadha wa sentensi elekezi. Sura ya nne imejishughulisha na uchanganuzi wa data yetu ambapo kauli tisa za vitenzi zimeelezwa kwa kutumia nadharia ya ubanifu. Dhana za uhusika na valensi pia zimeshughulikiwa hapa. Sura hii imetathmini kwa kina nafasi ya kanuni mbalimbali za nadharia ya Ubanifu zinazohakikisha kuwa tungo zinazozalika zinakuwa sahihi sio tu kifonetiki, bali pia .kimantiki. Sura ya tano ya tasnifu hii imetoa mahitimisho ya utafiti wetu. Zaidi ya mahitimisho, sura hii imetoa mapendekezo ambayo watafiti wengine wanaweza kuzingatia katika tafiti zao za baadaye.

Effects of teacher related factors on implementation of integrated Kiswahili curriculum in public secondary schools in Nkuene division, Imenti South district, Kenya

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to establish the effects of teacher- related factors on the implementation of integrated Kiswahili curriculum in public secondary schools in Nkuene division. The main objectives of the study were; to establish the effects of teacher's pre- service and in-service training on implementation of Integrated Kiswahili curriculum the effects of teaching experience on implementation of integrated Kiswahili curriculum. The effects of teacher's experience on implementation of integrated Kiswahili curriculum. The effects of teacher's academic and professional qualifications on implementation of integrated Kiswahili curriculum, teachers'attitude towards integrated Kiswahili curriculum, the choice and use of teaching styles by teachers of Kiswahili and their effects on the implementation of integrated Kiswahili curriculum. The study also sought to identify the strategies that should be put in place to enhance implementation of integrated Kiswahili curriculum. The study adopted the descriptive survey design. Thirty four teachers of Kiswahili language, 17 heads of Kiswahili department and 17 head teachers of secondary schools in Nkuene Division were targeted for the study. A sample of 32 teachers, 17 head teachers and 17 heads of department participated in the main study. The study adopted purposive sampling techniques. The majority of teachers of Kiswahili felt that teacher's pre- service and inservice training have effect on implementation of Integrated Kiswahili Curriculum, teachers academic qualifications, professional qualifications and teaching experience affect the implementation of integrated Kiswahili curriculum. The study made the following recommendations, during pre-services training in teacher training colleges, Kiswahili should be taught to teacher trainees as an integrated course to prepare them to teach in secondary schools. The study also recommends that the Ministry of Education, the schools administration and publishers should organize frequent in-service course for teachers so as to impart skills needed in the implementation of the integrated Kiswahili curriculum in schools whenever the curriculum is revised. The study further recommended that curriculum developers should incorporate views of teachers when selecting set books to ensure that they are not too complex to students and that they are also relevant to students. In view of the delimitations of the study the researcher suggests further research to be carried out in other secondary schools in the rest of the country and also to target students who are major stakeholders as far as implementation of integrated Kiswahili curriculum is concerned. A study should be conducted incorporating views from students on integrated Kiswahili curriculum.

Pia, imejumuisha udurusu wa yaliyoandikwa kuhusu mada na njia au mbinu za utafiti zilizotumika katika kazi hii. Sura ya pili imeshughulikia dayolojia na monolojia katika tamthilia tulizoziteua. Tumeangazia dhana ya vipengele hivi na umuhimu wa vipengele hivi katika kazi hizi kwa kutolea mifano mwafaka. Sura ya tatu imeangazia upambanuzi wa wahusika katika Kilio cha Haki na Kijiba cha Mayo. Tumejikita katika kutoa sifa za wahusika kwa kurejelea jinsi nne. Haya ni pamoja na: Nafasi ya wahusika, usemi wao, umakundi wa wahusika na ulinganuzi wa wahusika. Sura ya nne nayo imeshughulikia ploti ya kazi hizi. Tumeangazia migogoro, vikwazo, taharuki na vijiploti vilivyokuzwa na waandishi wa kazi hizi ili kujenga msuko wa kazi zao. Sura ya tano inatoa muhtasari wa matokeo ya utafiti na mapendekezo ya tafiti za baadaye.

Point of view in the Kiswahili novel : a narratological analysis of selected texts

Abstract:

This study entailed analysis of the rendering of point of view and the meaning of such, rendering in selected Kiswahili novels. The analysis covered four planes of point of view (phraseological, ideological, perceptual and psychological) as well as the two main types of point view (internal and external). The analysis was guided by narratology, a theory that explores how narration functions. Methods employed in carrying out the research were: interpretation, analysis and conceptualization. All were based on the qualitative research approach. Non-probability sampling design was used to identify material for analysis. Samples were selected from the texts based on degree of intensity and richness in expressing specific aspects of point of view as well as how typical the samples are in describing point of view. Intensity and typical case sampling techniques proved productive in establishing the excerpts used for analysis in order ~> to-have manageable data. The work is organised in chapters with each chapter dealing with one aspect of point of view. After the introductory chapter, the analysis moves to exploring the concept of point of view which sets the framework for the analysis in subsequent chapters. Consequently, the phraseological, ideological, perceptual and psychological planes of point of view are analysed. Finally, the two main types of point of view - internal and extemal- are analysed. The study established that in Kiswahili novels point of view is rendered differently by different writers. All aspects of point of view envisaged are present in Kiswahili novels. However, some are accorded more emphasis than others by different writers. Most novels are conducted in the external point of view which allows ease in expression of ideas and thoughts. A few novels are conducted using the internal point of view. Some writers have been creative and have used both the internal and external point of view side by side. Such an effort pushes creativity in rendering of Kiswahili novels to a higher level instead of depending on the traditional methods of presentation. Although the perceptual plane is quite pervasive in Kiswahili novels, the study shows that unless markers of space and time are used artistically to clearly express point of view, they end up remaining just as endophoric and temporal markers. It was also established from the analysis that the psychological point of view is equally pervasive in Kiswahili novels. The phraseological plane is less pervasive compared to the other two planes. It was established that only some writers use this plane widely. The ideological plane is present in novels though with less pervasiveness. By definition, it is a plane that needs space and time to clearly anchor it in a novel. Since this plane of point of view is hidden beneath the ideas and thoughts of the narrator and characters, the analyst ends up using own intuition to uncover it. It was also evident that there is an overlap of the various planes of point of view. For instance the same markers of phraseology also carry psychological and ideological points of view. Naming is a good case in point. In applying point of view, writers enhance the narrative meaning of their works. It is not just a narrative device for embellishing art but is employed to effectively capture the intended meaning as well as project attitudes, judgments, perspectives and positions. Point of view affects social relationships among individuals either positively or negatively.

Utafiti huu unashughulikia arki za simulizi bunilizi katika Utendi wa Mikidadi na Mayasa. Arki ni sifa za usimulizi wa hadithi bunilizi au halisi. ,Ni vipengele vya kimuundo ambavyo hutumika kwa njia tofauti tofauti kulingana na usimulizi husika. Aidha, ni elementi zinazotumika katika usimulizi wa hadithi ili kufanikisha mawasiliano na uelewa wa hadithi husika. Katika utafiti huu tunatumia nadharia ya naratolojia mwegemeo wa Rimmon-Kenan (2002). Tunataka kuchunguza na kuthibitisha kuwa kuna matumizi ya usimulizi katika ushairi kama ilivyo katika riwaya. Tunaigawanya kazi yetu katika sura sita. Katika sura ya kwanza tunajadili somo la utafiti, madhumuni ya utafiti, maswali ya utafiti, sababu za kuchagua mada, upeo na mipaka, misingi ya nadharia, yaliyoandikwa kuhusu mada na mbinu za utafiti. Katika sura ya pili tunashughulikia usimulizi, usimulizi wa hadithi, sampuli za wasimulizi, viwango vya usimulizi, uhusika wa msimulizi hadithini, uhusika na mhusika, wakati wa usimulizi, utegemefu wa msimulizi na hadhi ya msimulizi. Katika sura ya tatu nayo tunachunguza mpangilio wa matukio katika hadithi ambao umegawanywa katika mikondo mitatu: mpangilio wa matukio katika mfuatano wa wakati, muda katika usimulizi na idadimarudio ya matukio katika hadithi. Tunahakiki mtazamo katika sura ya nne ambao unachukua sura mbalimbali kama vile sura ya mwanda wakati na mwanda mahali, sura ya saikolojia na sura ya itikadi. Katika sura ya tano tunashughulikia uwasilishaji wa usemi na maw.,zo. Tunatalii usemi halisi na mawazo halisi, usemi halisi hum na mawazo halisi hum, usemi taarifa na mawazo taarifa na usemi taarifa hum na mawazo hum. Sura ya sita ni hitimisho la kazi nzima, matokeo ya utafiti na mapendekezo kuhusu tafiti za baadaye.

Wamitila ,Tumeongozwa na nadharia ya Ki-Foucault iliyoasisiwa na Micheal Foucault. Huyu ni mwananadharia wa Kifaransa aliyeishi baina ya mwaka wa 1926 hadi 1984. Tunaangazia mtazamo wake kuhusu mahusiano ya mamlaka na upinzani unaozuka pale panapokiukwa maadili ya mahusiano yenyewe. Upinzani tunaouchanganua ni ule unaoongozwa na wahusika vijana katika tamthilia nne tulizoziteua Katika sura ya kwanza, tumechunguza maswala ya kimsingi yanayodhamiria kujenga msingi wa utafiti wetu kama vile: Sababu za kushughulikia mada, tatizo la utafiti, yaliyoandikwa kuhusu vijana, upeo na mipaka ya utafiti. Tumeongozwa na nadharia tete zifuatazo: kwamba vijana wamefanikiwa kuyaleta mabadiliko na kwamba wanakabiliwa na changamoto mbalimbali katikajitihada zao. Katika sura ya pili tumeijadili dhana ya vijana na kuyachunguza maovu ya kisiasa, kiuchumi na kijamii. Hapo tumewaonyesha vijana wakikabiliana na maovu hayo ili kuleta mabadiliko chanya. Katika sura ya tatu tumechunguza mafanikio waliyoyapata vijana katika kuzibadilisha jamii zao. Tumeigawa kazi hii katika sura sita. Katika sura ya kwanza tumeshughulikia tatizo la utafiti, lengo la kulichagua somo letu, nadharia tete ambazo zimetuongdza katika utafiti wetu na msingi wa nadharia tuliyoitumia katika tahakiki yetu. Utafiti uliofanywa mbeleni umeshughulikia masuaia ya kisintakisia Kaviti (2005), matatizo ya tafsiri katika vyombo vya habari Ali (1981), ulinganifu katika tafsiri za kifasihi Nyaga (2009) na kushughulikia kipengele cha umaanisho cha pragmatiki kwa kutumia nadharia ya muwala Simiyu (2010). Usonde kama kipengele cha pragmatiki ni muhimu katika tafsiri kwa sababu kinashughulikia muktadha. Maneno ya usonde hushirikisha muktadha iIi kupata maana.
